WEEKLY MEDITATION
Every day of our lives we are on the verge of making those slight changes that would make all the difference.
-Mignon McLaughlin
It is important to remember, especially during those desperate days when recovery seems simultaneously imperative and impossible, that we are always potentially close to it. Our addictions are fed and supported by certain patterns that keep them protected. Often, if our addictions are destructive enough, circumstances may develop that automatically challenge these patterns, making it more and more difficult to keep them established. Other times, we must decide to make the changes that may stop our addictions. Either way, however, recovery is always a few changes away. It is ultimately harder to keep our addictions established than it is to live without them. The logistics associated with addiction take much more effort than those associated with recovery. The transition from one to the other can seem nearly impossible, but it is still only a few small decisions away.
